Breaking down the buzzwords to get value from AI, ML, and deep learning with Ian Swanson (Oracle)
About this course
but in addition to that look I know that we as engineers and mathematicians we like to reinvent our own wheels totally guilty of it myself but are we really sure that if we want
to start orienting data science in the right direction and focusing towards being as useful as possible that our discipline is the only one that knows about decision making or that we should
reinvent everything that humanity does know about decision making from scratch I mean philosophers have been thinking about this stuff for thousands of years and the social sciences for hundreds
neuroscience for decades are we just going to ignore all of that and reinvent that wheel well we shouldn’t expect that we’re going to get very much success that way so here’s what I propose
instead why not start over why not make a discipline that is oriented on transforming information into better actions and ask everybody who has something to say on that score
to participate to welcome a diversity of skills and perspectives and of course current data science is going to be a big chunk of that but the managerial and social sciences have to be there as well
and also all the other disciplines that have those nuggets of wisdom that we should be collecting because we have so much data our goal should be to make it useful
