Multiple Bounce Roll – Drum Rudiment Lesson (Drumeo)
the multiple bounce role also known as the press role or the buzz roll this rudiment consists of multiple bounces for every stroke and it's actually quite
difficult to practice on a practice pad mainly because you rely on the buzz from the snare to kind of create that roll and that sound however you can still practice it on the pad and here's how
you do it start by throwing you stick onto the pad with a little bit more fall compression than you're normally used to and I try to get multiple bounces for every stroke you do now you might not
think that sounds like a buzz roll but that's how you start it as you speed up you're going to bring those notes closer together you're going to apply a little bit more fall compressor and it's going
to turn into more of a roll sound again this is not a double stroke you're looking at more than two notes for every hit something like this now in order to play this rhythm it
correctly you're going to have to use that Falcom pressure in order to get that nice buzz sound which might go against some of the things you've been taught regarding technique also it's a
very difficult rudiment to practice with in time so what I suggest you do is pick a subdivision and a no value to actually practice this rudiment into you want to make sure that the subdivision you
choose in the temple you're choosing allows you to play fast enough to get a consistent buzz sound so let's practice this within 16 note triplets at 60 beats per minute now learn how to apply the
multiple bounce roll and to improve your overall drumming come join us at Romeo calm
